Roger Lynn Hill

May 12, 1945 — April 19, 2023

Roger Lynn Hill passed on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at age 77 after a long battle with COPD. He was born on May 12, 1945 in Dallas, Texas. He was the middle child of Finos Lynn Hill and Edna Lorene Brown. Roger took great pride in being born a Texan and he spent most of his life in the DeSoto area. Roger was a graduate of DeSoto High School in 1965. He was a homebuilder by trade, Hill Custom Homes. He was also a very gifted water color artist featuring American Indians. Roger married Linda (Lyn) Thaxton in 1989 and remained married until her passing on July 18, 2020 from Parkinson’s Disease. Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Finos and Lorene Hill; wife, Lyn; nephew, Neal Hopkins; and brother-in-law, Mike Keller. Roger is survived by his two sisters, Peggy Hopkins (New Braunfels, TX); Rita Ramsey and husband Mark (The Woodlands, TX); two step-sons, Jeff Thaxton and wife Shannon (Sequim, WA) and Michael Thaxton (Dallas, TX); grandson, Jax Thaxton; granddaughter, Jessica Thaxton; nieces, Terri Shook and husband Les (New Braunfels, TX), Kristina Keller (The Woodlands, TX), and nephew, Joe Hopkins and wife Misty (Corpus Christi). Roger was blessed by many lifelong friends and many good neighbors who were so supportive to Roger, especially during these last, very difficult years. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Per Roger’s wishes he will be cremated and the ashes spread over his family graves. He requested no funeral/memorial service. Roger was baptized many years ago by his wife Lyn who was an ordained minister. Praying that Roger has found peace and rest in Christ.
