Ronald "Ronny" Richmond Coleman

July 23, 1937 — September 7, 2022

Ronald “Ronny” Richmond Coleman, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife Rita, mother Louise Monroe, and brother Reverend Robert “Bobby” Coleman. Ronny was born and raised in Dallas and graduated from Sunset High School in 1954, lettering 3 years in tennis. He then attended TCU, where he was a cheerleader, a member of the Tennis Team, ROTC, and Kappa Sigma fraternity. Upon graduation in 1958, Ronny joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1958 – 1962. While in the Army, Ronny was a graduate of U. S. Army Ranger School, U. S. Army Jump School, and U. S. Army Jump Master School. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division and the 505th Infantry Battalion. Ronny was honorably discharged from the Army as a Captain in 1963 at which time he began a lengthy career in the insurance business. His career started with Travelers Insurance in Shreveport, followed by United Founders in Oklahoma City. He then moved to Houston to work for San Jac International. Next, Ronny became the President of GIC Insurance company in San Antonio and later President/CEO of Western Re-Insurance Co., also in San Antonio. During this time, he was the President of the Texas Legal Reserve Officials Association. He valued professionalism, and throughout the years he became a CLU, CSA, and CRFA. In 1991, he and Rita relocated to Dallas where they enjoyed their family, Sunday school friends, and neighbors. Ronny never met a stranger and loved getting to know people and their stories. He was kind to all he knew. Ronny was seldom seen without a bright smile on his face and a twinkle in those blue eyes. He had a true love of music that began in the 4th grade and continued his entire life. He sang in numerous choirs, led many groups, sang solos, and ultimately learned to play the harmonica (which he did until recently). He was often the designated harmonica player for birthdays, whether asked to be or not! He will be remembered for his generosity to his family and friends and his charisma that shined wherever he went. In his later years, he would make copies of the positive quotes on his daily calendar and hand them out to whomever he came across. We figured this out after inquiring as to why he was constantly out of printer paper. He was a positive thinker and wanted everyone else to be as well. Ronny is survived by son Jim and wife Cindy Coleman, daughter Judy and husband Jimmy Moody, son Chuck and wife Lesia Flynn, daughter Cynthia Flynn, and daughter Melanie and husband Mark Crutcher. His grandchildren are Clair and husband Brad Irwin, AJ and wife Georgia Florence, Rhys Crutcher, Bailey and husband Tyler Johnson, Natalie Crutcher, Valerie Flynn, Kyle Coleman, and Kristen Coleman. Ronny had many other loving family members and dear friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday - September 12, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at The Heights Church, 201 W. Renner Rd., Richardson, TX 75080. A Graveside Service, with Military Honors, will be held in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mt. Creek Pkwy., Dallas, TX on Tuesday - September 13, 2022, at 9:00 A.M.
