Roy L. Bayless

60, U S Air Force Veteran, of DeSoto, TX passed away July 13, 2022. Roy was a 1980 graduate of David W. Carter High School in Dallas, TX and a 1984 graduate of Austin College in Sherman, TX. After his college graduation Roy entered the Air Force and graduated from Officer Training School at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. After serving in the Air Force Roy served as a flight instructor, aerial photography pilot, transport pilot and air ambulance pilot. He retired in 2021 after almost twenty-five years as an employee for Seven Bar Aviation, where he was a fixed-wing pilot for Children’s Medical Center Dallas. Roy loved flying and loved helping people. He was a devoted husband of thirty years to Sheree and a devoted father to his & Sheree’s adopted black labs Queenie and Duchess Bayless. Roy and his family are grateful for the many prayers and support from the congregations of First United Methodist Church of DeSoto and First Presbyterian Church of Duncanville, as well as for the many doctors and healthcare workers who helped Roy during his illness. Roy was preceded in death by his two precious black labs: Queenie & Duchess Bayless. He is survived by his wife: Sheree Bayless; parents: Steve & Marna Bayless; brothers & sisters in law: Jerry & Julie Bayless, Jim & Linda Bayless and Richard & Miriam Bayless; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. A Celebration of Roy's life will be held at the First United Methodist Church of DeSoto, 310 Roaring Springs Rd., DeSoto, TX on Friday - July 29, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Tim Marks, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials or donations be made in Roy's name to the First United Methodist Church of DeSoto, the Dallas Zoo or Tri-City Animal Shelter. Reception immediately following Roy's Celebration of Life will be held in the Church Life Center.
