Roy Wayne McKay
Services for Roy Wayne McKay, 72, of DeSoto, will be held on January 31st, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery (Lane A).
Mr. McKay died Thursday, January 10th, 2012 at the VA Medical Center after a long hospitalization due to bladder cancer.
He was born February 16th, 1940, in Harrison County. He graduated from Marshall High School and attended Texas Christian University. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1969 during at which time he was a Fire Control Technician aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln SSBN-602 Submarine.
Mr. McKay was a retired Senior Vice President at Bright Truck Leasing where he worked for 20 plus years. In addition, he was an avid fisherman who loved spending his time out on the lake.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Hardy; his father and stepmother, James Roy and Dorothy Stropp McKay; and hissister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Dr. Edgar Allen.
Survivors include a daughter and her fiancé, Amy McKay and Jeffrey Buckner of Dallas; a daughter, Kelly McKay Vollmer of Lucas; and a daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Michael Hall of Allen; grandchildren Aiden and Addison Vollmer; a step-brother and sister-in-law, John and Dianne Stropp of College Station; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his loyal dog, Buster.
