Ruth Opal Pickard Mc Elroy

was born in southern Dallas county to Isaac Milton and Cora Brooks Pickard. She went to be with the Lord in Red Oak, TX, at the age of 101. She was a member of a pioneer Dallas and Ellis County family, preceded in death by her husband, Marion Wayne “Mutt” McElroy on September 20, 1980. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Glen Waits as well as a close and loving extended family. Mrs. McElroy’s Service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Ovilla Methodist Church, 1403 Red Oak Creek Rd. in Ovilla with Rev. Cal Hoffman, officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Tuesday until service time at the church. Interment will follow in Ovilla Cemetery.
