Sally Eckman

Carol Jean “Sally” Eckman, age 84, of Glenn Heights, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026.

Sally was born on November 3, 1941, in Dallas, Texas, to Clarence Henry Hoover and Pauline Rachel Smith Hoover. She devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She also built a long and dedicated career at AVO International, where she worked faithfully for 35 years.

After retiring, Sally cherished time spent with her family and found joy in simple pleasures such as working jigsaw puzzles and creating crafts. These quiet moments reflected her gentle nature and thoughtful spirit.

Sally is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy Awalt and her husband Lester Awalt, and Kimberly Love and her husband Mike Love; her grandchildren, Bailee Awalt, Brent Awalt and his wife Kari Awalt; her great-grandchildren, Hailey Awalt and Charlotte Awalt; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene Eckman; her parents, Clarence and Pauline Hoover; and her siblings, Bobby Hoover, Patsy Thurman, Jackie Hoover, Malinda Gorrell, Billy John Hoover, and Kathy Lovelace.

Those who knew Sally will remember her for her deep love for her family and the kindness and warmth she extended to everyone she met.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Tuesday - February 24, 2026 from 10 - 11:00 A.M. at which time the Funeral Service will begin with Chaplain Terry Darnall, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, TX.
