Sandra "Sandy" Lee Waits

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2012 in the Chapel of WEST/HURTT Funeral Home with Bro. David Fortenbury, officiating for Sandra Lee "SANDY" Waits. Interment will be at 2 p.m. in Woodbury Cemetery near Hillsboro, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Sandy was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on June 4, 1944, and died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 21, 2012 while caring for her mother in Houston, Texas. She had volunteered for the DeSoto I S D for ten years before working full time at Amber Terrace Intermediate School and later becoming the receptionist at Ruby Young Elementary School. Survivors include her husband of almost 40 years, Gene P. Waits, of DeSoto, daughter and son in law: Ashley and Dane Kees of Ft. Worth, TX, mother: Virginia Weaver Bennett of Houston, sister and brother in law: Sally B. and Tim Brady of Houston, cousins: Joe Foster of Longview and Chuck Foster of Dallas, Nieces: Courtney O'Neil and Cassie Crabtree of Houston, great niece and nephews, Callie, Rivers, and Christian O'Neil of Houston, sister in law: Edith Brooks of Hillsboro and nieces: Donna Wood of Hillsboro and Jeana Brooks of Aledo.
