79, of DeSoto, TX, passed away peacefully at home on November 14, 2021. Steve was preceded in death by his parents: John M. & Pauline C. Belser Collins; wife: Jerrie Cranford Collins in 2014 and sister: Mary Elizabeth Summers in 2020. He is survived by his daughter & son in law: Sue & Jeff Price; daughter & son in law: Judy & Mike Tinsley; grandchildren: Lauren Tinsley, Jordan Price and Meagan Price; nephew: Sean Lawrence & his family. Steve graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1960. After high school, he attended the University of Texas and graduated in January 1965 with his degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired from Texas Utilities Company after 27 years of service in October 1992. After retirement, he volunteered for Meals on Wheels, FUMC DeSoto, Life School, DeSoto Food Pantry and many other organizations. Steve truly had a servants heart. His goal in life was to make a difference and no one know about it. Steve and Jerrie married on Thanksgiving Day in November 1960. They were married for 53 years when Jerrie passed away in April 2014. Their anniversary this year will once again fall on Thanksgiving Day where they will be celebrating their 61st together. Per Steve's request there will be no viewing or visitation. He wanted no flowers or plants and preferred memorials or donations be made to the "Endowment Fund" of the First United Methodist Church, 310 Roaring Springs, DeSoto, TX 75115 (where he and Jerrie were members for many years) or the charity of choice. A small Graveside Service will be held on Friday - November 19, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. in the Cold Springs Cemetery, Garrison, TX.
