Sue Elaine Cavender Pillow

March 9, 1949 — May 23, 2017

68, of Cedar Hill, TX passed away unexpectedly on May 23, 2017 while visiting her son in California.  Sue Elaine Pillow was born on March 9th, 1949 in Dallas, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents Buck and Doris Cavender, and great-granddaughter Lucy Emanuel. She represents the fifth generation of Cavender residents in DeSoto, TX. She graduated from DeSoto High School in 1967 and continued on to college at the University of North Texas. Sue married Johnny, her husband of 35 years, on March 13, 1982. Always an educator, Sue opened Maryview Academy to further the education of the children in DeSoto. Sue later transitioned to assisting children struggling with learning disabilities, in addition to those that were mainstreamed in the school system. She then co-founded Braintrain Academy, where she has helped countless students achieve their academic goals. Sue has many passions in life. She was blessed with a talent for music, singing, and poetry. Her other passions included photography, fishing, travel, and her strong faith in God, among others. Her main passion by far was the love she shared with her family. Friends and family often sought out her advice. She was always happy to deliver honest advice, even if it was difficult to hear at the time. Although she will be greatly missed by family and friends, collectively we are comforted by the knowledge that she will forever be in heaven in God's embrace. "A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others." - L. Frank Baum. The family will receive friends at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 4015 S. Hampton Rd., Dallas, TX 75224 on Tuesday - May 30, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at which time the Funeral Mass will begin (all on the same day). Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, DeSoto, TX.
