Thomas Lewis Slaton Jr passed peacefully on November 17, 2021. He was born December 14, 1939 in Jacksonville, TX to Thomas Lewis Slaton and Sara Ruth Stephens Slaton. Tom graduated from Sunset High School in 1958. He attended Arlington State College. He started his career at Standard Manufactory in Dallas and then accepted a job at Briggs Weaver as a salesman for 20 years. He then took a job as outside sales with Texas Rubber where he retired in 2005. He started his own business after retirement known as Slaton Service and Sales. He loved what he did and said he could never retire. Tom met Patsy Rinehart on a blind date and were married 5 years later, June 24, 1961. They were married 59 years. He missed her so much when she passed away October 21, 2020. Tom and Patsy lived in Oak Cliff until January 1968 when they moved to De Soto, TX. They lived in De Soto until 1995 when they moved to Midlothian. He was an active member of Hampton Road Baptist Church for over 50 years. He served as a Deacon at Hampton Road for over 40 years. Tom loved big, lived life to the fullest and was most often seen with a smile on his face and wearing his cowboy hat. Tom loved to go fishing. He spent many weekends on Lake Whitney. He couldn’t wait until Kristopher was old enough to join him on those early morning trips to the lake. When Kristopher was born he arrived at the hospital with his first rod and reel. Tom’s other hobby was woodworking. He made toys for the grandkids, and furniture. He had a woodshop that he built that he spent many hours nightly and on the weekends on special projects. He was a Master Mason at Hillcrest Lodge no 1318 for over 40 years. His grandkids and his great grandkids were his greatest joy. He is survived by his daughter, Kay Earle and husband Randy, son Steven Slaton. Grandchildren Kristopher Vernon and wife Kristin, Amanda Williamson and husband Jordan, Perry Slaton. Great Grandchildren Karson and Knox Vernon, Ivy and Wes Williamson, Nora and Lorelai Slaton. He is proceeded in death by his wife Patsy Slaton, son Tommy Slaton, parents Tom and Ruth Slaton, brother Jim Slaton. We find comfort in knowing that Tom is rejoicing in heaven with Patsy and Tommy.
