Velma Lorene Packer

Mrs. Packer was born in Lolita, TX and passed away at Methodist Charlton Hospital at the age of 96. She worked in the cafeteria for the Dallas School System for over 30 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ, and was preceded in death by her husband; Moses Edward Packer, and daughter; Betty Shipman. Survivors include her sons: Keith Packer of DeSoto, Dannye Packer of Wimberly, and David and his wife, Becky Packer of Glenn Heights, TX, grandchildren: Julia and her husband: Steve Connel, Todd Packer, Averie Grant and Jacob Packer, great grandchildren: Makesa and Weston Richey, Skyler and Savanah Packer, Allison and Corey Lynn Grant, and her brother: Leo Heaton. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the funeral home with Funeral Services being held at 11 A. M. Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the West/Hurtt Funeral Chapel with Don Hicks, officiating. Interment will follow at Five Mile Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. Pallbearers will be: Jacob Packer, James Grant, Dub Green, Robert Barfield, Bill Looney, Todd Packer.
