Vera E. Maxwell, 87, DeSoto resident since 1952, member of the First Baptist Church of DeSoto and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother passed away on April 14, 2015. Her eldest son was killed in the Viet Nam War in 1967, and her husband passed away in 2003. Survivors include her children: Marilyn DeViney of Red Oak, Garry Maxwell of Paris, TX, and Vera Joann Baron of Aledo, TX, 9 grandchildren: Everett Lee Maxwell, Jr., Yvonne Michelle Harrison, Melissa Renee Wilson, Jennifer Lynn Gibson, Amanda Dyane DeViney, Angela Dawn Taylor, James Dawson DeViney, Michael Christopher Vines, and Stacey Michelle Biggs, 14 Great Grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, brother: James Glendon Templeton, sisters: Willa Dean Harper and Ruth Ann Crest, all of Sikeston, MO The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday - April 16, 2015 from 6 - 8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. on Friday - April 17, 2015 with Dr. Kerry Moore, officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Land Memorial Park, Dallas, TX. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, DeSoto, TX 75115
