Wanda "Sue" Hobbs Hurst

February 14, 1932 — March 22, 2019

Wanda “Sue” Hobbs Hurst was born in Pleasant Hill, OK on February 14, 1932 and passed away in Cedar Hill, TX on March 22, 2019 surrounded by her loving children. Born on Valentine’s Day, she is the embodiment of all that is LOVE. Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Eugene Hurst; her mother, Lena Bell Spradlin; her sisters Dorothy Lockhart and Delois Townsend; and daughter-in-law Rebecca Teter.  Sue is survived by her children, Randy and his partner Kathy, Debbie, Jeff and his wife Cathy, and Lenny; her grandchildren Nettie, Chelsea, Kyndl, and Josh; and her great-grandchildren Jake, Clara, Emmalee, Kameron, McKenna, and Jacquelyn, and her sister: Deyne Tannehill. Sue loved her family fiercely; and gave her children the gift of a strong and loving foundation, the healing, power and pure fun of humor and laughter, and the bedrock knowledge that she is always with them. She lived her life with grace, sacrificed some dreams, had a grateful spirit and a strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  A celebration of her life and legacy will be held on Tuesday, March 26 at 2:00 pm at Watermark Community Church Chapel, Dallas campus, 7540 Lyndon B. Johnson Fwy, Dallas, TX 75251. Following the service, she will be laid to rest next to her husband at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 East Irving Blvd., Irving, TX 75060. Her family wishes to give special thanks to her care givers at Crescent Place and Hospice Plus. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her honor. https://www.alz.org/    “And when she dies she says she’ll catch some blackbird’s wing, and she will fly away to Heaven come some sweet blue bonnet spring” - Nanci Griffith   Forest Fashions       by: Wanda Sue Hobbs Hurst Autumn season is almost here It’s my favorite time of year Trees seem to be models preparing a fall fashion parade As their leaves of green begin to fade. One seems to say, as high she holds her head: “I’m the most beautiful in my gown of red”. Another, tall, sleek and bold, Says “Look at me dressed in shimmering gold”. A tall willow, swishing soft and mellow, Towers above the others in bright, sunny yellow. To complete the scene, there’s one whose feathery fronds Are a blazing blend of rust, orange and bronze. Then chilly winds begin to blow And bring an end to their Fall Show. ?They dance a sensual bend and sway As their colorful garments are stripped away. Then comes their Winter Show As they don coats of white-mink snow. And to add an extra dash of spice They flaunt sparkling silver jewels of ice. After a time they begin to strut and preen And show us again lovely shades of green. This is their special Fashion-Fling To herald and greet the coming Spring!
