Willa Jost

October 30, 1922 — May 21, 2013

Willa Jost passed peacefully on May 21, 2013, in DeSoto, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones, in the family home she and her husband built with their own hands and where she has lived since 1948. She married Leonard Jost on September 2, 1939, who preceded her in death in 1997. Willa worked many years as office manager for Bond Clothing. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend, who always put others first. She was an accomplished and self-taught seamstress who made clothes for her children, a wedding dress without a pattern, and elaborate Christmas stockings for each member of the family that will forever be cherished. She enjoyed crocheting and ceramics and was always eager to learn new things. She was an avid reader, loved her Kindle, and sometimes would start and finish a book in a day. She was a proficient crossword puzzle worker. A member of Hampton Road Baptist Church in DeSoto since 1948, she was the embodiment of a faithful Christian. She was the beacon, the anchor, and the nucleus of our family. Our lives will be eternally enriched by the memory of her love. She is survived by her son: Gary Jost; daughters and sons-in-law: Judy and Jerry Gallagher, Janet and John Thach, Linda and Charles Sanders; grandchildren: Jeffrey Dickens, Lisa Ellrich, Chris Daugherty, Amy Newlin, Gary Sanders, Craig Daugherty, Von Gallagher, and Jamie MacCloskey; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Julian Dodson; former daughter-in-law, Phyl Jost; and numerous nieces and nephews. Willa is also survived by her loyal friend, Ima Moody, and her devoted caretaker, Tonya Dollison. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 5-7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 24, at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry R. Raines officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Land Memorial Park, Dallas, Texas.
