William “Bill” Lee Evans, Sr. passed away after an extended illness on March 29, 2022 at the age of 82. William was born on July 12, 1939 in Mountainair, New Mexico to James Rollie Evans and Cynthia Hopkins Evans. He married Leona Wilson in El Paso in 1960. William subsequently married Shirley (Mason) Deaver in Las Cruces, NM in 1977. They moved to DeSoto, TX in 1979. William worked for Safeway in various positions for 25 years until 1987. He worked next as a commissioned police officer for Dallas County Sheriff’s Department and Dallas County Community College District before retiring about 2006. William served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962. He also served in the U.S. Naval Reserve in the 1990s. He was preceded in death by his mother: Cynthia Hopkins Guynn; stepfather: Roy Guynn and granddaughter: Kimberly Hernandez. William is survived by his wife of 44 years: Shirley Evans of Glenn Heights, TX; twin brother: Billy Frank Evans of Tulsa; son: William Evans, Jr (Sophie); daughter: Cynthia “Cindy” Evans; stepson: Joseph “Joe” Deaver; stepson: William “Duane” Deaver (Kim); stepdaughter: Rhonda Deaver Nowlin (Randy); grandchildren: Joe, Corey, and Mandy; step grandchildren: Amanda, Lydia and Stephen and several great grandchildren. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Thursday - April 07, 2022 from 11:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at which time the Funeral Service will begin with Rev. Sidney Brandon, officiating. All are welcomed to attend and celebrate William's life. Interment will follow in Mountain Peak Cemetery (west of the intersection of FM 663 & FM 875) Midlothian, TX.
