William Edward "Ed" Flanagan

William Edward “Ed” Flanagan, aged 85, passed away on August 24, 2024, in Dallas, Texas, the city where he was born. He leaves behind a legacy marked by his deep devotion to his faith, his genuine kind heart, and his unwavering commitment to his wife and family. Ed was a respected businessman who owned and operated Hefner Precast and A&E Crane, after starting his career as a job foreman at Dallas Power & Light. His entrepreneurial spirit was paralleled by his love for hobbies such as golfing, flying his plane, and meticulously building his 1934 Ford Coupe. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helen Darlene Flanagan; his children, Lisa Flanagan, Tracy Anderson and her spouse Robert, Sherry Oxford and her spouse Brec, and Michael Flanagan. Ed was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Odell Flanagan and Gracie Mae Flanagan; sisters Margaret Hooks, Georgia Clark, Bobby Snyder, Kathy Clicque; and his daughter Janet Kay Flanagan. Visitation will be held at West-Hurtt Funeral Home in DeSoto, Texas, on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at the same location from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery, Waxahachie, TX. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C in Fort Worth, Texas. Donations can also be made online at the church's website. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to West-Hurtt Funeral Home for their compassionate assistance during this difficult time. Those honored to be serving as pallbearers will be James Oxford, Andrew Oxford, Tyler Oxford, Corey Conley, Thomas Godwin & Michael Flanagan, Jr.
