Born in Hebron, Maryland to Charles Alton and Edna Cooper Hastings. After graduating from high school there, Bill joined the Air Force, and he served in the Korean War, and worked for General Motors and retired from Chuck Fairbanks (Bruton) Chevrolet. He lived in DeSoto for 29 years, and Mansfield, TX the last 7 years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen, children, Kathy Jones, Keith Hastings, Jeri Walsh, and Karen Hastings, grandchildren, Matthew Maples, Megan Copeland, Tabitha Tiedeman, Aubrey Hastings, great grandchildren, Dealey Maples, Ella Copeland, sister, Jean Bounds. A Celebration of His Life will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, February 9, 2009 in the WEST/HURTT Chapel. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery, Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 3 p.m. Lane A
