William David Smith

William David Smith, 69, of Red Oak Texas, passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by his wife and family on February 24th, 2025, after a long, hard, courageous battle with cancer. David was born on February 10th, 1956, to Arlene Mark Smith and Lucille Lafern Lee Smith in Amarillo, Texas. After attaining his GED, he went on to do a stint in the United States Air Force. After the Air Force, David went on to pursue a career in the automotive industry and worked for 45 years until he retired in 2020. In 1973, David met Susan Ann (Suriff) Smith in Simi Valley, California. David and Susan went on to have two beautiful boys, John David Smith and Justin Paul Smith. They were married for 52 years. After retirement, David loved to spend time at their lake property doing one of his favorite things, which was fishing. He also loved to take cruises with his wife and family, he loved going to Church, and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. David was predeceased in death by his son, Justin Paul Smith (2005), His parents Arlene and Lucille Smith, siblings Dewayne Ratcliffe, Connie Ratcliffe, Jeff Ratcliffe, and sister Janice (Smith) Caulkins. David survives by his wife Susan Smith, son John (Melanie) Smith and grandchildren Kassadi, Kyleigh, Kambree. Daughter-in-Law Carolyn Smith and grandchildren Angelica (Chris), Kevin (Ashleigh), Hunter (Whitney), Rayden and great-grandchild Hudson Paul Smith, Brothers Wayland Ratcliffe, Donnie Ratcliffe, and John Smith. Including multiple nieces and nephews. A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Northside Church of Christ, 2699N Hwy 77, Waxahachie, TX 75165 on March 8th, 2025, at 11am.
