William Andrew "Andy" Wilkerson

  Andy Wilkerson, age 60, of Red Oak, TX passed away on October 26, 2014. His loss was sudden and will forever impact those who loved and knew him. He was born in Abilene, TX. He graduated from DeSoto High School in 1972. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Weemes in July of 1975 and had two sons and a daughter. He was the owner and operator of Wilkerson Concrete. He was also recently employed with Goddard Contractors, Inc. as a supervisor while also maintaining his self owned business. He worked hard and prided himself on providing quality work and service but he definitely made it a priority to also enjoy the times when he wasn't on the job. He loved taking the boat out to the lake, fishing for crappie, and cruising in his truck, windows down, dog in the front seat, and the radio on full blast. He also enjoyed cooking and creating new dishes. Fajitas on the plow disk were his signature specialty and a must have when tailgating at the annual Drag Races and really anytime for that matter. He had his share of adventures, but nothing was more satisfying to him than sitting outside on his patio that he built and dubbed "The Man Cave" or taking a dip in his "bathwater pool" and having a cold beer with his friends and family while watching a beautiful Texas sunset...and then yelling at the Cowboys on the T.V. He never met someone he couldn't strike up a conversation with and he did love to talk...a lot. He truly is unforgettable, and there will never be another "Big Andy". Though his life was cut short, he lived life exactly as he wanted and to the fullest. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawson "Blackie" and Mary Ellen Wilkerson. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sharon of Red Oak, son, Aaron of Dallas, son, Adam of Red Oak, and daughter, Andrea of Arlington, TX. Andy is also survived by his sister, Aimee Wilkerson-Broussard of DeSoto, and brothers: John of Houston and Grady of Garland, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the West-Hurtt Funeral Home from 5-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of West-Hurtt Funeral Home on Thursday, October 30, 2014. Interment will follow in Red Oak Cemetery, Red Oak, TX.
