Wp Ward, Ii.

September 4, 1958 — March 26, 2020

On March 23, 2020, this world lost a truly good man when WP Ward, II passed away from natural causes in his home in Dallas. WP was born in Denver City, Texas, on September 4, 1958. His upbringing in the small west Texas town shaped his character as he developed a strong work ethic and sense of community responsibility that never left him. He began his first business at the age of 13 when, with a $700 bank loan, he became a pig farmer. The lessons learned through that experience sharpened his keen business mind and allowed him to parlay his profits into another venture closer to his heart. He loved 1970s muscle cars and would customize and “flip” each one for a profit as he worked his way through high school. WP’s passion for horsepower fueled his appreciation for fast cars, fast boats, and loud motorcycles throughout his life. After attending West Texas State in Canyon, WP moved to Dallas in the early 1980s. He set about making Dallas his home and met many lifelong friends who meant the world to him. His easy charisma, broad shoulders, and soft chuckle drew people to him in spite of his reserved nature. He was the kind of man anyone would be blessed to call a friend, and many were fortunate to do so. He loved animals and was a staunch advocate for the underdogs of the world – both canine and human – and would gladly reach out to give freely to those he loved and called friends and family. In 1992 WP and his business partners established Flexpress, a digital printing company. Throughout the years WP ran Flexpress with a simple philosophy he was quick to share: give the customer what they ask for and stand by the product; stay on the forefront of technology; be a part of the community; and treat every employee like family. This wasn’t just a business philosophy. It was how WP lived his life. As owner and CFO, WP believed that the success of his business could best be measured by how much he could give back and support those in need. Animal rescue groups, food pantries for the hungry in North Texas, veterans, the homeless, and lung cancer and Alzheimer’s research were but a few of the groups and causes he extended his services and support to in an effort to make the world a kinder, better place. In short, he was a soft touch with a generous heart and we all benefited from his time on earth. WP was preceded in death by his father WP “Duck” Ward, mother Mary Josephine “Joker” Ward, brother Stephen Ward, and sister Janice Ward. WP is survived by nieces Autumn (Jake) Ford, Brooke (Marty) Mercer, and Afton Ancinec; nephews Trevor Ancinec and John Beech; and twelve great-nieces and nephews. He leaves behind two fur babies, his dogs Andy and Alvis; beloved cousins and friends, and a host of memories shared by those who were fortunate to know and love him. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. At this time we ask that those who knew and loved WP and wish to honor his life do so with a small act of kindness to others or a donation to a charity of your choice.
